Do You Have The Time And Money To Be A Dog Owner?
Many people have made the decision to get a dog during the pandemic.
But there are lots of costs that come with being a dog owner, from food to vet bills.
The ISPCA estimates it can cost as much as €2,500 per year to responsibly care for your dog, depending on the size and breed.
Food alone can cost over €600 per year, while pet insurance costs dog owners on average €250 per year.
Charlie Weston, personal finance editor of the Irish Independent, and Charles Cosgrave, co-owner and MD of Village Vets, joined us to discuss the things you need to consider before welcoming a dog into your life.
