The Difficulties Faced By People With Sight Loss During COVID-19

Our lives have changed in many ways during the COVID-19 pandemic, but some people have been affected more than others. The restrictions put in place in recent months have made daily life particularly difficult for people living with sight loss. The actress Victoria Smurfit has been working with Irish charity Fighting Blindness for a number of years. Her daughter Evie lives with a condition called Stargardt's Macular Dystrophy, which eventually leads to blindness. They both previously spoke to Matt on The Last Word about the impact this condition has on Evie's life. Victoria joined Frank Greaney to talk about how the current pandemic is affecting people with sight loss. Listen to the interview in full by pressing the play button on this page.
