Des Bishop Honours His Late Mother In An Incredible New Comedy Tour

"There's no reason why you wouldn't try to deal with grief in a humorous way" Des Bishop has just kicked off his new nationwide comedy show, Mia Mamma, which is inspired by his late mother Eileen, who passed away in March 2019. "It’s a show about motherhood and sacrifice, anxiety and grief, the mistakes you make as a mother and a son and the hard road to forgiveness and finally it’s about loss, grief and the chaos that surrounds it"   View this post on Instagram   On sale now. Check http://www.desbishop.net/tour-dates/ for dates and tickets. Not all venues are on ticketmaster. A post shared by Des Bishop (@desbishop) on Nov 14, 2019 at 8:22am PST Speaking on Today FM's Dermot and Dave, Bishop reveals how his mum's death, and the ensuing grief, led  him on a journey of discovery. Unbelievably, it wasn't until after he took up indoor cycling whilst in Oz that he learned how to deal with these trapped emotions; "I really have done a lot of my grieving while spinning". He has even dedicated a section of his show to it. He continues by saying; "I'm so cynical about it all...but there is something about breath, and music, and the energy of other human beings that can help you to unload emotion". it's really strange that we don't talk about death more The 44-year-old then applauds Dermot Whelan for sharing the story of his father's death (and the delayed grief involved) and praises Ricky Gervais for highlighting the issue in his dark comedy show After Life; "I think that's great to share because everyone tries to explain grief but I think grief is one  of the most complicated [emotions], but also one of the least, that you need to describe because it's so personal to each individual" Check out the tour dates for Mia Mamma here.
