Dermot Bannon Reveals The Secrets Behind His Most Ambitious Project To Date

"The figure of €350,000 was a little bit of a sales pitch to my wife" Dermot Bannon returned to our screens on Sunday night with the first episode of his highly anticipated two-part show Room to Improve: Dermot's Home - and it did not disappoint! For a man who is usually so "on it", the window-loving designer shocked viewers with his indecisiveness and  miscalculation of the budget by half: Every previous person who has been on #roomtoimprove listening to Dermot admit that entire walls of windows isn't the best idea pic.twitter.com/UR9pMvoWme — Ross Of Tralee (@RossMcMahon__) January 5, 2020 The most expensive builds in Irish history: 1. Dermot Bannon's House. 2. The National Children's Hospital. 3. The room in the Dail where the keep the printer.#roomtoimprove — Caolán Mc Aree (@Caolanmcaree) January 5, 2020 Daniel O Donnell when Dermot hears how much his own house will cost #roomtoimprove pic.twitter.com/TOCl1rHblt — Carly Killen (@carly_killen) January 5, 2020 Speaking on Today FM's Dermot and Dave, Bannon reveals his budget to be a bit of a white lie; "the figure of €350,000 was a little bit of a sales pitch to my wife". But he does admit that his uncertainties were very real, saying; "I had to find out what I liked and I did that in the middle of the programme": ?SOCIAL MEDIA EXCLUSIVE! ? Knock! knock! Anybody home? An unexpected guest and familiar face drops by to pay Dermot a visit in this unseen footage from #RoomToImprove: Dermot's Home. ? cc: @builder_pete pic.twitter.com/zmxmka4TsU — RTÉ One (@RTEOne) January 6, 2020 "The privacy is unbelievable" he added, which he says "was on of the reasons we bought it because you're in the city centre and you cannot see another window and nobody can see you when you're in the back garden" When asked why he didn't add the "couple dynamic" by featuring his wife Louise, Dermot says: "Louise and the kids have always been incredibly private...and that's what's kind of kept us kinda sane. Coz at home, we're just a regular family". We reckon ratings for part 2 of the project will be through the roof.
