Dermot Bannon Admits His Own Home Renovation Is "A Real Head Melt"

He has way too much room to improve We've all watched Dermot Bannon do his thang on Room to Improve over the past number of years and 99% of the time he's cool as a breeze. It usually takes a bit of compromise to help get his clients over the line but he takes it in his stride and the results are always amazing. The thing about clients is they're the ones dictating to him, which means there are certain boundaries. So what happens when the shackles are cast off? Well that's exactly what has happened Ireland's most high-profile architect during the renovation of his new family home in Drumcondra. Speaking on Dermot and Dave, the perfectionist admits to overthinking and being stressed out with the project saying, "It's because I have every option open to me. It becomes a real head melt". The fruits of his labour will be shown on RTÉ this coming January, in a 2-part special he has temporarily christened "Chez Dermo". Dermot Whelan then hits him with this stat; Room to Improve has the highest interaction to any TV show made or shown in Ireland, beating anything from ITV, BBC, Sky or Netflix. Bannon praises the "realness" of the show and says it's all down to the calibre of characters they've been lucky enough to work with, "it's all about following them on their journeys". Of course the lads couldn't let him go without calling him out on his budgeting. Though he does make a strong case as to why, "small budgets won't work".
