Sunrise Appeal Pieta House have had to postpone their annual Darkness Into Light fundraising event and are asking people to take part in the Sunrise Appeal. In 2009, in the Phoenix Park, 400 people set off on the very first Darkness into Light 5km walk to raise funds for Pieta House. Last year over 200,000 people in 150 different locations, in 16 different countries took part. Due to current restrictions, the same event can't happen this year, but we can still participate and raise vital funds from our own homes. Tom McEvoy, Funding and Advocacy Manager at Pieta House, joined Sarina on Saturday's Plan B to tell us how. On Saturday 9th May, Pieta House would like everyone to show community and solidarity with those impacted by suicide. Wake at 5.30am, watch the sunrise from your home and share photos on social media using #DILSunriseAppreal #DIL2020. Please donate on www.DarknessIntoLight.ie so our services can remain in operation and continue to be delivered free of charge. While we can't walk together physically on May 9th for Darkness Into Light, proudly supported by @electricireland, we will share a special moment by watching the sunrise together at 5.30am.
