Is Our COVID-19 Testing System Fit For Purpose?

The testing criteria issued to GPs for COVID-19 have been broadened, which means people will no longer need to be in an at-risk group to be eligible. People will now only need to have sudden onset of a cough, fever or shortness of breath and no other cause that explains their illness in order to receive a test. But is our testing system working well enough to help us out of this crisis? Dr Nick Flynn of MyCorkGP joined us for our weekly medical consultation to discuss his experience of the waiting times for patient test results, and why he believes the current tracing and isolating system is not fit for purpose.
