Irish people are paying much more for food and drink than our EU counterparts, according to statistics from Eurostat. The findings show that the cost of a basket of groceries is 20% higher than the EU average. This includes the following products: Bread and cereals - 19% higher Milk, eggs and cheese - 21% higher Meat - 5% higher Whiskey, wine and beer - 77% higher Tobacco - 101% higher Why are we paying so much?
