Concerns Raised Over Crime Boss Daniel Kinahan's Professional Boxing Links

Boxers Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have agreed a two-fight deal, with the first bout to take place next year. When announcing the news yesterday, Fury publicly thanked Irish crime boss Daniel Kinahan for his role in "getting this deal over the line." Kinahan has been attempting to reinvent himself as a boxing promoter. There has been little mention of Kinahan's background in British press coverage of the fight, with The Telegraph describing him as "a sometimes controversial figure during his time as a Dublin businessman." Taoiseach Leo Varadkar confirmed in the Dáil today that the Department of Foreign Affairs has made contact with officials in the United Arab Emirates, where Kinahan is based. Nicola Tallant, Investigations Editor with the Sunday World, and Fine Gael TD Neale Richmond joined us to give their thoughts on the story.
