An Bord Pleanála has given a 208-bedroom co-living scheme in Dun Laoghaire the go-ahead, subject to each unit having its own cooking facilities. The company has said that co-living is aimed at young people moving to Dublin for work, and that rents of €1,300 a month would compare favourably to €1,800 for a one-bedroom apartment. Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy recently described the concept of co-living as an exciting opportunity for millennials and compared it to living in a boutique hotel. Should co-living be welcomed as part of the solution to the housing crisis?
