Cars Frontman Ric Ocasek Dies Aged 75

Ric Ocasek, frontman with The Cars, has passed away at the age of 75. The singer died in his sleep, and his family said he had been recovering from an unspecified surgery. The Cars were best known for their two top 10 hits, 'My Best Friend's Girl' and 'Drive'. The latter was famously played over a montage of images of the Ethiopian famine during the band's Live Aid performance in 1985, which saw a spike in donations. The band split in 1988, but reunited for a new album in 2010. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year. John Caddell and Larissa Nolan remembered Ocasek in our music slot and also discussed The Stone Roses' announcement that they are splitting again, an upcoming album and Irish gig from The Who, new music from The Pixies and the trailer release for the Michael Hutchence documentary Mystify.
