The British Irish Chamber of Commerce is calling on the UK government to seek an extension to the Brexit transition period as negotiations have been disrupted by COVID-19. Despite Boris Johnson's previous insistence that there would be no trade barriers, it appears Britain has now privately conceded that there will in fact be customs checks post-Brexit. In a letter to the executive office in Stormont, the government confirmed that there would be border control posts in three ports in Northern Ireland.
