Have we become desensitized to acts of extreme violence?

A 17-year-old who was decapitated and dismembered on Sunday night in the town of Drogheda has been identified and Gardai are also investigating reports of unverified images and videos that may be related to the case and are circulating on social messaging apps. Hard to believe anyone would share such shocking and distressing images, but it raises the question: have we become desensitized to acts of extreme violence? Brendan Kelly Professor of Psychiatry Trinity College Dublin and author of “The Doctor Who Sat For A Year” joined Ivan to discuss this further.
