BBC Four Could Be Axed This Year As Broadcaster Targets Younger Audiences

Fans of BBC Four could be about to lose their favourite arts and culture programmes, as rumours are circulating that the channel is facing closure by the end of the year. It has an annual budget of £44 million and attracts a niche audience of mainly older viewers. The BBC, which is looking to cut costs, has previously emphasised that its aim is to invest in younger audiences. Several BBC Four presenters are unhappy about the idea, and have taken to social media to campaign for the channel to be saved. Joe O'Shea and Jennifer Gannon discussed this and more in our weekly TV slot, including RTÉ's Dana documentary. Listen to the interview in full by pressing the play button on this page.
