Ballyfermot rallies together following recent deaths by suicide

The number of people dying by suicide in Ireland is thankfully falling, but one community in Dublin has been dealing with a number of recent deaths. Community workers in Ballyfermot have told Newstalk they're aware of 7 people who've taken their own lives in 2019. One of those was 22 year old Andrea Dempsey. Her brother Warren Dempsey has spoken to Newstalk about her death, and his efforts to remove the stigma surrounding mental health. He's since set up a mental health support group for the area called H.O.M.E (Helping Others More Everyday) and is organising a well-being event for the 8th of September in Le Fanu Park. Newstalk reporter Aideen Finnegan has also spoken to community workers Sunniva Finlay and Bernie Laverty. If you're in emotional distress, there is help.
