What's Happening With The BBC's Crackdown On Social Media?

The BBC has told employees they must not bring the corporation "into disrepute" in new guidance on social media use. Staff are instructed to refrain from criticising colleagues in public and to maintain impartiality on matters of public policy, politics or "controversial subjects". They are also advised to avoid expressing bias through likes, follows and shares, and to stay out of "ill-tempered exchanges". How will this affect high-profile BBC figures like Gary Lineker or Laura Kuenssberg, who have previously been criticised for their social media posts? Joe O'Shea and Jennifer Gannon discussed this in our weekly TV slot. [audio mp3="https://media.radiocms.net/uploads/2020/10/30175247/LW-BBC-Social-Media.mp3"][/audio]
