How Statues Have Become Flashpoints In Worldwide Protests

As anti-racism protests continue all over the world, protesters in Bristol pulled down a controversial statue of 17th century slave trader Edward Colston. The statue had been in place in Bristol city centre since 1895, and was the subject of an 11,000-strong petition to have it removed. Meanwhile, there have been fresh calls in Ireland to have a statue of Oliver Cromwell removed from outside the House of Commons in Westminster. Musician and historian Paddy Cullivan joined us on The Last Word to discuss how statues are becoming flashpoints in worldwide protests.
