Did Brian Stanley Go Far Enough In His Apology Over Tweets Celebrating IRA Massacres?

Sinn Féin TD Brian Stanley has apologised for a tweet which appeared to celebrate two IRA operations that led to the deaths of nearly 40 British soldiers. Stanley told the Public Accounts Committee that he was "genuinely sorry" for the tweet, which has since been deleted, and that in sending it he had "fallen short of the standards that I set for myself, and the standards expected from the Dáil". He added that he had not intended to celebrate violence, but to "highlight the disastrous decision to partition the country almost 100 years ago". But has he gone far enough in his apology? We spoke to Daniel McConnell, political editor of the Irish Examiner, about the story. [audio mp3="https://media.radiocms.net/uploads/2020/12/02175139/LW-Brian-Stanley.mp3"][/audio]
