Banks Stop Issuing Mortgages To Customers On Pandemic Payments

Banks have stopped issuing mortgages to customers on the pandemic unemployment payment and the temporary wage subsidy scheme. AIB, Ulster Bank and Permanent TSB have all stopped making loan offers, while Bank of Ireland, KBC and Finance Ireland will not allow people to draw down a loan while applicants are on the pandemic payment or the wage subsidy. Charlie Weston, personal finance editor of the Irish Independent, and Karl Deeter of Irish Mortgage Brokers joined us to discuss this, as well as the forthcoming price hikes by the likes of crèches, hairdressers, pubs, cafés, restaurants and hotels.
